iPad Mini coming this October

Early last week, Bloomberg claims that the potential “iPad Mini” might hit the market late this year with specific October release. In relation, The Wall Street Journal added that Apple’s component suppliers are raging for production of the iPad mini to start in September. If you’ll remember, Steve Jobs don’t have plans for a 7-inch iPad, however, the time for a smaller iPad might be on-track as competitors such as Amazon with its Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7 have been getting the right attention with its less expensive listing of $199 price tag. The iPad mini will be keeping the iPad on-top of the tablet market as the device-trend moves to much smaller 7-inch game.

Accordingly, Bloomberg known sources told that the iPad mini will “have the same number of pixels as those in the iPad before it was upgraded to the so-called Retina Display earlier this year”, giving the device a resolution of 1024×768 pixels. At these screen resolution, the developers will limit fragmentation for apps in different iDevices such the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
The news are coming out from Bloomberg and WSJ which seemed on a clear track for Apple-related rumors, let’s just wait for further developments as for sure there will be lots of leaks coming our way.

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission coming to North America on 360, PC

Bohemia Interactive announced today that they will be bringing the interesting upcoming action/strategy game Carrier Command: Gaea Mission to PC and 360 in North America this Fall.

The important thing to note with Carrier Command is that it's not a strategic action game, or a real-time strategy game. It's actually an action game and a strategy game. At the same time. If you zoom the camera all the way out, you'll be able to see a tactical map showing the areas forces your need to conquer. Zoom in a bit more and you control an individual giant carrier decked out with several different types of units.

You can send those units off on missions, or take control of one of them personally, turning this into a vehicular action game. It's all very interesting, and it invokes that healthy dose of FPS-laser-shooting that so many strategy games desperately need.

It's being developed by Bohemia Interactive (ARMA) in the Czech Republic and published state-side by Red Star Games (Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Deadly Premonition.) We're looking forward to giving it a spin later this year to see if it lives up to its fantastic premise.

Good at sniping? Want to win stuff? GamesRadar's UK Hitman Absolution Sniper Challenge is coming

Live in the UK? Fancy yourself as a bit of a crack shot when it comes to sniper rifles in games? Well, here's your chance to turn your skills into prizes. Over the next couple of months, Square-Enix and GamesRadar are running a Hitman Sniper Challenge competition, with some amazing prizes including gadgets, Hitman goodies and a secret 'Star Prize'. But what do you need to get involved?

Firstly, you'll need to get yourself a copy of Hitman Sniper Challenge, which is a bonus you get when you pre-order the full version of Hitman Absolution, available from ShopTo. The pre-order Sniper Challenge is brilliant (we've been playing it and love it), based as it is on old-school score multipliers and bonus points. You'll also be able to carry over your save file to the full game:

Above: The pre-order bonus is already awesome. Our competition makes it even better

When you've downloaded Hitman Sniper Challenge, head on over to www.HitmanSniper.com and sign up. We'll be running monthly leaderboard prizes from now until the end of October. Prizes will be announced in the coming weeks as we report on each leaderboard. The Monthly competition for July is now officially open, starting with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. And don't worry about losing out to players on different platforms - there are separate leaderboards for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Please note: Entrants must be over 18 and residents of the UK. To be eligible for prizes entrants must have pre-ordered Hitman Absolution and be registered at www.HitmanSniper.com. Also, please bear in mind that existing high scores will not count - the prize for July will only be given out for scores posted to the leaderboards between July 1 and midnight on July 31st. Keeps things fair that way, plus it means the challenge is reset for the next month - a chance to win even more prizes!

Check back tomorrow for more details including how to win the first bonus prize...

New Marvel Comics game coming from Activision and High Moon Studios?

We may only just finished recovering from E3 2012, but in a matter of days comes another huge event located in Southern California. And even though its focus is meant to be on comic books and genre films, video games continue to grow as part of the beautiful rainbow of geekery. Of the most recent panels announced so far (which include panels for Halo 4, Last of Us and Mass Effect) the newest Marvel panel hints to an exciting and previously unannounced title from the developers of the Transformers games.

http://www.gamesradar.com/new-marvel-comics-game-coming-activision-and-high-moon-studios/Above: The most recently released Marvel game from Activision, Amazing Spider-Man
Here's how SDCC's site describes the panel (emphasis ours):

Marvel Video Games Learn all about Gazillion's Marvel Heroes MMO, Ubisoft's Avengers: Battle for Earth and more future Marvel games-including an announcement from Activision and High Moon Studios that is sure to be a hit! Q&A will follow.

In this Marvel games specific panel that brings together multiple developers, Activision and High Moon Studios will have an announcement of some sort which, unless it's related to High Moon's upcoming Transformers game, implies a brand new game will be announced. Activision has published numerous Marvel game in the past, perhaps more than any other publisher. Currently they don't have any upcoming Marvel games they've revealed publicly, so could this be the next one in the pipeline? And if so, what is it?

Based on recent history it could be another X-Men adventure or perhaps something as safe as a game based on next year's Iron Man 3 film. Or maybe they'll really shock us with the return of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, a multiplayer series that would fit High Moon's skill set. We'll let you know as details come in. In the meantime, here's a trailer for High Moon's upcoming Transformers game, Fall of Cybertron.
