On the heels of an announcement by Activision that they're developing a Walking Dead-based first-person shooter, Telltalle took this as an opportunity to let gamers know that their hugely popular Walking Dead adventure game series will not be the only WD games they're making.
Presumeably, this means that they're planning another season of Walking Dead adventure games, but as of now we don't have confirmed details on what's being planned.
"We believe there is no better company than Telltale to bring complex narrative IP to interactive entertainment," Telltale told Polygon. "Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first 8 weeks with no signs of slowing down. We have three more episodes to go with Episode 3 targeted for August as we confirmed yesterday."
Is that confirmation of The Walking Dead Season 2? No, but it's close. Really close. "Our first episodic game series..." Also, the game is selling like hotcakes, so at this point it's kind of a no-brainer.
The timing of the announcement couldn't be more interesting either, coming mere hours after Activision announced its own Walking Dead project. Is this Telltale trying to tie their game series to the excitement surrounding Activision's? Or is this a move to reassert themselves as the marquis developer of Walking Dead content?
They also announced that all five episodes of the first season of the Walking Dead will be coming to retail in physical form after the final episode has launched.
